At Onshindo Osaka, we’re experts in, lovers of, and staunch defenders of the efficacy and importance of the Japanese world of beauty and cosmetics. So we’ve created unique formulas that totally stand out from the rest of the products on the market.
Our secret lies in years of research and hard work, but it also lies in the characteristics of our ingredients, carefully selected from everything Japanese flora and biotechnology has to offer, as well as the way we combine them. The result? A range of products, tested and made in Japan, faithful to the essence of traditional Japanese beauty and skincare routine, but with a generous dash of technology and revolution.
That means trying Onshindo Osaka is a chance to immerse yourself in a universe in which tradition and innovation collide and work together in harmony, offering an insight into how skincare is viewed in a different part of the world.
And the key to understanding that vision is, without doubt, discovering the origin, properties and benefits of the ingredients that make up Onshindo Osaka’s DNA, which you’ll find in products like our Nadeshikoiro serum.
From exotic flowers with antioxidant properties to seaweed that repairs and protects, in this article we’ve shared five of the ingredients that sum up our beauty revolution, and underpin Onshindo Osaka’s products.
Nadeshiko extract
Nadeshiko or dianthus is a perennial plant scientifically known as Dianthus caryophyllus, which you probably know as a carnation. Nadeshiko extract can be found in both our Koubaiiro cleansing lotion and our Oshiroibana peeling exfoliator, and it’s just bursting with antioxidant, restorative properties. This plant has traditionally been used in the west of Honshu (Japan’s biggest island) thanks to said properties, but also because of the way it lightens and cleanses the skin, visibly improving the appearance of pores.
Sea buckthorn
Sea buckthorn (Hippophae) is a versatile plant used in all kinds of industries, from food to traditional medicine, from horticulture to ecology and, naturally, in the world of beauty and cosmetics. One of the ingredients in our Sawayaka Moisturising cream gel, sea buckthorn oil is popular because of the way it hydrates your skin, reduces irritation, clears up acne and repairs skin damage related to ageing.
What’s more, its extract contains multiple essential fatty acids and antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and anthocyanins, making it great for your skin’s general health and, of course, for making it look rejuvenated and juicy.
MeiviewTM
One of the main ingredients in our Nadeshikoiro eye cream, MeiviewTM is an ingredient extracted from an endophytic microorganism that visibly improves the look of the skin around your eyes. On top of that, this innovative ingredient strengthens the epidermis by improving intercellular bonds, binds with plakoglobin (PKG) and also boosts collagen production, making the skin firmer and more resilient.
And that’s not all. MeiviewTM has a very specific power: it improves microcirculation by reducing vascular permeability, which in turn reduces VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) levels. Last but not least, MeiviewTM also helps reduce the accumulation of blood and melanin, which are the main causes of the appearance of under-eye bags and dark circles, respectively.
Sharohyal Marine
Part of our two-in-one Uminoiro Face Mask, Sharohyal Marine is a combination of Macrocystis pyrifera kelp polysaccharides and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid that acts and works on the surface of the skin as a cosmetic lifter. It also boosts the firmness and suppleness of the deeper levels of your skin (epidermis and dermis).
Mirual
Mirual is an aqueous agent made of codium, a green seaweed. In Japan, this kind of seaweed is known as “Miru” and is traditionally used in ritual offerings. These days, Miural is mostly used for human consumption as it repairs and protects, as well as intensively hydrating the skin.
