Understanding your skin type is the first step towards taking care of your skin and getting the most out of your skincare routine. At Onshindo Osaka, we believe that every skin deserves a personalised routine, which is why we’re here to help you identify your skin type and recommend the most suitable products for you.
How to Identify Your Skin Type
Take note of how your skin feels and looks to determine which of the following categories best describes it:
- Normal Skin
- Characteristics: Perfectly balanced. The skin feels smooth and supple, neither too oily nor too dry, with small and barely visible pores.
- Recommendation: If you have normal skin, the best approach is to maintain its natural balance with a lightweight, hydrating product that enhances its natural radiance, like our Sawayaka Light and effective, it offers proven 24-hour hydration, making it perfect for daily use.
- Oily Skin
- Characteristics: Excessive sebum production, which leads to a shiny appearance, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). Pores are larger and more visible, with frequent breakouts of acne and blackheads.
- Recommendation: Those with oily skin should use products that regulate sebum production and keep pores clean without drying out the skin. Our non-comedogenic Nadeshikoiro cream for oily skin is formulated with Pore Reductyl, a botanical active ingredient designed to minimise the appearance of pores while regulating sebum production. It contains agaric acid, a natural astringent that overcomes all excessive secretion, smoothing, tightening and moisturising the skin.
- Dry Skin
- Characteristics: Tightness and flakiness sensations, and lack of radiance. Pores are small, but the skin may feel rough to the touch and show fine lines or redness.
- Recommendation: Dry skin requires deep hydration with products that strengthen the skin barrier and provide comfort and softness. This is why our Nadeshikoiro anti-ageing cream for dry skin not only helps reduce signs of ageing but is also formulated with ingredients that take care of dry skin, such as shea butter, which strengthens the skin barrier, and coconut oil, which deeply hydrates and nourishes.
- Combination Skin
- Characteristics: A mix of oily skin in the T-zone and normal or dry skin on the cheeks. This skin type displays different behaviours in different areas of the face.
- Recommendation: A product that balances the needs of both areas, providing hydration without excess oil, is key for combination skin. At Onshindo, we use ingredients like vitamin E and grapeseed oil, which are non-comedogenic, helping to hydrate, improve skin texture, and protect the skin barrier without causing greasiness. You’ll find these ingredients in our Nadeshikoiro cream for normal and combination skin.
